Park Theatre bringing Taylor Swift tribute show

The Park Theatre Civic Theatre will be holding a show that organizers say will bring a bit of Taylor Swift to North Vernon later this month.

Sara Jessica will perform her tribute concert, called “Twist on Taylor” at the venue on Saturday, Aug. 19th.

The show starts at 7 p.m. with local artist Deagan Gresham and his band Outlier as the opening act.

Jessica has been a Swift impersonator on stage in Las Vegas for the long-running Country Superstars show. She not only resembles Swift, but also has a similar voice, organizers say. She plays guitar during her concert and will be accompanied by Rowan Robertson, a guitarist formerly with the rock band Dio.

North Vernon Main Street will have activities beginning at 5:30 p.m..

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. They can be purchased at the Park Theatre Box office, which is open 2 to 5 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 10 to 1 on Saturdays.

The Park Theatre opened in 1916 with shows ranging from vaudeville acts to silent films but closed in the 1960s. A not for profit group was formed in the 1990s to renovate the venue as a civic center.
