Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Thom Yorke Among 1000 Artists To Sign AI Warning

Julianne Moore, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Kevin Bacon, Rosario Dawson, and Robert Smith (The Cure), are among 1000+ artists who united to issue a concise statement denouncing the unlicensed use of creative works for training artificial intelligence. The open letter emphasizes the need for consent, warning of the threat it poses to artists’ livelihoods. The warning was led by Ed Newton-Rex, a tech exec who resigned from Stability AI due to disagreements on copyright practices. He then founded a group called Fairly Trained to promote responsible AI data use. The creative community has rallied behind this call, with support from industry figures like Rosie O’Donnell, Harlan Coben, and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA, along with endorsements from organizations like SAG-AFTRA and Universal Music Group.
