Mariah Carey Says 7-Year-Old Son Spent $5,000 Ordering A Dog Online

Mariah Carey made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday to talk about her The Butterfly Returns Residency in Las Vegas, new music, and more.

Mariah also described how her 7-year-old son Moroccan Scott Cannon once spent $5,000 shopping online and ordered a dog without permission.

“My son is like a technological genius,” the singer said about how Moroccan ordered a dog online. “I have to control them with iPads because literally he charged $5,000 on Amazon,” she said before detailing how Moroccan’s father and her ex-husband Nick Cannon dealt with the ordered dog.

“They called him and they were like, ‘Your dog is ready.’ And he was like, ‘I didn’t order any damn dog!’“ Carey said. “We have enough dogs! The dog’s been cancelled,” she continued about how the dog was not delivered to her son.

Mariah also said she did not enjoy being a judge on American Idol.

“Is it true that you told [Lionel Richie] not to do American Idol when he was thinking about whether or not he should judge it?” Jimmy asked Mariah, who judged on season 12 alongside Nicki Minaj.

“If I didn’t, I should have,” Mariah said. “It was a bleak experience. We don’t have to go back there…I’ll tell you the best part was some of the memes we got.”

Mariah is headlining an all-new residency, The Butterfly Returns, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace beginning July 5th. Other dates include July 7th, 8th, 10th, 14th and 15th, as well as August 31st and September 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th and 10th.
