Madonna is back with a new album, titled Madame X. Madonna revealed the album’s title in a teaser video posted on her socials on Sunday.
“I decided to call my record Madame X…Madame X is a secret agent traveling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom, bringing light to dark places,” she explains in the video.
The note also described a long list of things that Madame X “is” – including “a professor,” “an equestrian,” “a professor,” “a saint” and “a prostitute.”
In the video, there is a snippet of a song in which Madonna sings, “The thing that hurt the most/Was that I wasn’t lost.” Then, over a montage of Madonna in a variety of costumes, hairstyles and makeup, she says, “Madame X is a secret agent. I am Madame X.”
She then repeats the part about the character being a secret agent traveling around the world, and says, “Madame X is a dancer, a professor, a head of state, a housekeeper, an equestrian, a prisoner, a student, a mother, a child, a teacher, a nun, a singer, a saint, a whore…and a spy in the house of love. I’m Madame X.”
No release date for the album yet.
Madonna is also confirmed to perform a new song at this year’s Eurovision in May, which is being hosted in Israel.
